That magnificent horse is my favorite, but they all seem to have an interesting story to tell.

Happy Mute Monday!

Would you have fancied Rasputin, Joanna? They say he was a hairy, intense character with burning eyes.

Kym - I know, in many ways she is the classic Favourite because he just kept on coming back to her.

Troll - I dont know how often Secretariat was 'The Favourite' at the bookies but it seemed appropriate :)

Mr Bananas - I think Rasputin is just a bit to hairy to have tickled my fancy, but they do say he was quite mesmerising.

Cake,

He was a solid to heavy favorite in every race after the Sanford. At Arlington Park, bettors had to choose between Secretariat and ALL THE OTHER ENTRIES.

Jimmy The Greek ( a nefarious mob-connected USA oddmaker) spread a false rumor that his knees were shot before the Kentucky Derby dropping the odds a bit.

Camilla + Charles has always been a head scratcher for me, but proof positive of the power and mystery of chemistry. Happy Mute Monday!

oh this is SO perfect her ya, Cake--jes spot on! Very good use of the theme!

the whole Camilla thang reminds me of Diane de Poitiers --mistress of Henri II evne thogh she were ole enough to be his mama! I eamn, does ya wonder if some of these princelings is mama deprived as boys so they find older lovers who can also subtly play mama

Happy MM!

It looks like you fancy the Royals. My mother use to follow the real-life Royals all her life for reasons I still don't know. Especially Princess Di. Maybe it was the pomp and circumstance and that they were British and the dream life they led?

Happy MM!

Troll - Bad, bad Jimmy the Greek :)

Moi - I dont think any of us could quite understand the Camilla thing but, as you say, sometimes there's no accounting for chemistry... just as Aunty Belle said about Diane de Poitiers and Henri II. The allure of the older woman for the younger man is often quite beyond reason to an outsider, whereas there is often an explanation with the spring/autumn romance between a young woman and an older man. I can remember a very naughty interviewer on the BBC who once asked the Debbie McGee, the much younger wife of celeb magician Paul Daniels: 'So Debbie, what first attracted you to millionaire Paul Daniels?'

Aunty Belle - I had quite forgotten the magnificent Diane de Poitiers. Thank you for reminding me! It's nice to know that someone else likes French history as much as I do. Jean Plaidy is responsible for that.

Buzz - I think Im more interested in the historical aspect than the current crop. But there is a certain aura and charisma around the whole royal thing.

Raven/Vixen - Thank you :)
