When the lovely people at Xcite asked me to review this book, I really didn't want to like it.
I thought I was sexually excited enough without the need to indulge in additional stimulation. I firmly believed that it was going to be just another excuse for a load of titillation without any real character development or storyline. That was how I was left feeling after reading both the Story of O and the Story of the Eye.
But 'The Education of Victoria' turned into more than that. It has become almost a manual for me.
For instance, as part of her training, Victoria is advised that, when giving head, a woman should never envelop the man's cockhead with her mouth as a first introduction. Although, our male friends may not agree, I have learned that it is far better to tease and torment with the tip of the tongue at first. To put off the optimal moment until they are desperate for that delightful encasement.
The premise of the book itself is a series of increasingly dark sexual encounters that have been woven together to form an extremely enjoyable tale. It follows a young woman and her exposure to the curriculum at a very specific type of finishing school at an indeterminate period in history.
I have always loved historical novels and, in many ways, I prefer this format to the short story selections because you get more background and, as a woman, I do like detail, both emotional and physical scene setting. It just sits better with my commitment to the characters because I can empathise with them and start to inhabit their shoes which, in turn, leads to a more vivid arousal on my part.
And the cohesion of the narrative meant that I felt as if I, as a reader, was being educated along with Victoria and that we were both improving our sexual knowledge together as she went back for each successive term.
Thoroughly recommended.
Tease on!
ReplyDeletelooks like fun fun fun to me!
ReplyDeleteThat was an excellent illustration on blowjob techniques. ;) HHNT!
ReplyDeleteWhat a superb picture! From the look of that technique I would say you could do some teaching yourself!
